about alacpa
The Latin American and Caribbean Airport Pavement Association (ALACPA) was founded by a group interested in disseminating knowledge of the profession and this specialty. They accepted the challenge proposed by Dr. Samuel Cardoso, AGA Officer at the ICAO Regional Office in Lima, to form a non-profit Technical Association for Airport Pavements with a regional scope in Latin America and the Caribbean. ALACPA International Inc. is a non-profit corporation registered in the State of Florida, USA.
In October 2003, the first draft of ALACPA's bylaws and the competition guidelines for selecting its logo were approved. A month later, during another professional meeting held in Lima, Peru, from November 19 to 25, ALACPA's first officers and brand identity were elected.
During the 4th Meeting of the GREPECAS Subgroup AGA/AOP/SG/4, held in Mexico City, Mexico, from November 15 to 18, 2004, ALACPA applied for "Observer Member" status and signed its first institutional agreement.
Since 2003, ALACPA, in collaboration with ICAO, FAA, ACI-LAC, Boeing, and its hosts, sponsors, and members, has successfully organized annual seminars in various countries throughout the region, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and the USA.
